Spanish AGV provider KIVNON has launched an Android phone App to link to its AGVs, designed to programme routes through the warehouse quickly and easily. The AGV receives orders while circulating through the facility with Tags placed on the floor on the route. The Tags are read by the AGV and this information allows the AGV to realize its functions.

Huawei Solar, the world’s leading manufacturer of string inverters by shipments, has expanded its European Supply Centre with a new inverter production facility in Eindhoven, Netherlands. The company says that the centre will greatly increase the flexibility of the company’s customised inverter production and shorten delivery lead times. Leading logistics provider DHL will cooperate with Huawei to provide this production and delivery service.

Egemin Automation will soon start with the construction of a new automated high-bay warehouse for Belgian snack food producer Poco Loco. The company has been experiencing steady growth and needs more capacity. To achieve this, the company recently bought seven hectares of industrial area across the street from the company’s existing production facility. The new warehouse is part of a 50 million Euro project that will allow Poco Loco to centralize its storage in one location, giving it even more control over its logistics process. For Egemin the project represents a confirmation of its competencies in automated warehouses for the food industry. The new warehouse is to go operational by early 2018.

Freight forwarding and warehousing specialists UKI Express Transport Ltd have taken 100,427 sq ft at Orbit Developments’ distribution warehouse scheme, M58 Skelmersdale. The company carry over 1500 separate consignments per day through the UK via road, air and ocean so location was key when searching for a new distribution centre.

One of the UK's leading manufacturers and installers of temporary, semi-permanent and permanent buildings has completed two projects for Marley Eternit, the leading provider of roof systems to the UK construction industry. Smart-Space has designed and built a clip and slate store and an engineering store at Marley Eternit’s manufacturing and distribution site in Beenham, near Reading. The buildings form part of a major £3 million investment at the location, which will see the company increase its production capacity and enhance customer service through a comprehensive reorganisation of the facility.

Global logistics provider Agility has signed an agreement with Maersk Line, the world’s largest container ship operator, to cut CO2 emissions by 15% per container transported on Agility shipments by 2020. The agreement is part of Maersk’s Carbon Pact Challenge, an initiative under which the ocean carrier and its customers work together to drive down harmful emissions and reduce the environmental impact of shipping.

Nagel Česko has officially launched its new food logistics centre in Říčany-Jažlovice, near Prague, Czech Republic. The logistics facility, covering a total area of 5,200 square metres, is located in a strategically favourable location close to the existing main branch, on a logistics park directly on the D1 motorway, around eleven kilometres south east of the Czech capital. “We have grown by around 10% in each of the past three years - in both existing business and with new customers. So our previous capacity was no longer sufficient,” said Jan Hyťha, Managing Director of Nagel Česko.

Jungheinrich has won the Industrial Vehicles category at this year’s prestigious Design4Safety competition, for its integrated pedestrian detection and speed control system. Organised by the British Industrial Truck Association (BITA), the Design4Safety awards highlight the importance of product design in improving safety standards and the final was held in Birmingham during the recent intralogistics exhibition, IMHX.
