ICTSI, NALP break ground for Cabuyao auto logistics hub
Officers of International Container Terminal Services, Inc. (ICTSI), NYK Auto Logistics Philippines (NALP) and other project partners recently led the ground breaking ceremony on NYK’s pre-delivery inspection and storage facility located at ICTSI-owned land in Barangay Niugan, Cabuyao Laguna.  The facility will serve as a storage center for completely built-up units (CBUs) discharged from Bauan International Port, Inc. (BIPI), a subsidiary of ICTSI that operates the Bauan terminal in Batangas. The initial phase of the project will feature a 5,000 square meter covered warehouse and storage space for 2,800 CBUs.

Scotland First to Introduce New Efficiency Rules For Commercial Properties
Avacant Glasgow Airport warehouse has undergone a £750,000 facelift to meet new energy efficiency rules for commercial properties in Scotland. From 1 September 2016, owners of commercial properties over 1,000 m² in Scotland need to prepare to upgrade their building’s energy efficiency to comply with new EPC regulations before selling or leasing to a new party.

New DHL Express Heathrow Hub Reaches Completion
The construction of DHL Express UK’s new South East operation and Head Office in Colnbrook, on the western edge of Heathrow Airport, has reached completion. The 150,000 sq ft facility, developed by the Airport Property Partnership (APP), a joint venture between SEGRO and Aviva Investors, is part of a major UK investment plan by DHL. The new site will see DHL Express relocate its Head Office and South East operation from its current smaller premises at APP's Orbital Park, Heathrow. With a phased transition, the new Colnbrook site will be fully operational in early 2017.

Honeywell Completes Acquisition of Intelligrated
Honeywell says it has completed its $1.5 billion acquisition of Intelligrated, a privately held leader in supply chain and warehouse automation solutions, which was previously announced in July. “With the continued growth of e-commerce, retailers and supply chain companies need a range of enterprise solutions to enhance their operational accuracy, efficiency and safety,” said John Waldron, president and CEO, Honeywell Safety and Productivity Solutions.

Building Work to Begin on 575,000 sq ft Logistics Park in Coventry, UK
M&G Real Estate, one of the UK’s largest property investors, together with Rigby Group and Evander Properties Ltd acting as development manager, is to begin construction of Coventry’s Imperial Park in the English Midlands. Detailed planning permission was gained from Warwick District Council earlier this month for three units of 350,000, 165,000 and 60,000 sq ft respectively.

Mitsubishi Claims 20% Order Picking Efficiency Boost With New Machine
Mitsubishi design engineers have created “game changing innovation” with a low level order picker which the company says will boost throughput by 20% in a typical warehouse. Called the VELiA, it starts with a cunningly designed walk-through cabin that enables the machine to stop at the optimum position between pick points. Rather than walking around the machine, the operator simply uses the cabin as a direct walkway to the picking point.

Manitou Launches First Latin America Factory in Brazil
Manitou Group, the French leader in all-terrain materials handling trucks, has inaugurated its new Brazilian subsidiary in Vinhedo (Sao Paulo state). It confirms the international ambitions of Manitou group, which wants to develop new market share, and to strengthen its local presence in the region. The company has sold Manitou products in Brazil since 2008, working with dealers and a regional office in the country, directly management from France. In 2014, the company initiated a deep analysis of the Brazilian market, and started the commercialization of the Gehl and Mustang brands in the country.

Prime Norway Industrial Asset Acquired By HIG Capital
H.I.G. Capital, a leading global private equity and alternative asset investment firm with €18 billion of equity capital under management, announced that one of its affiliates has completed the acquisition of a 43,000 m2 industrial compound in Kongsberg Technology Park, one of the leading industrial clusters in Norway. Financial terms were not disclosed.

Jungheinrich Nominated For 2016 BITA Design4Safety Awards
The British Industrial Truck Association (BITA) have recognised Jungheinrich’s ongoing commitment to creating the safest workplace environments by shortlisting the company for an award in the Industrial Vehicles category of this year’s prestigious Design4Safety competition. The Design4Safety judges nominated Jungheinrich’s new, fully-integrated pedestrian detection and speed control system which has been designed to significantly reduce the risk of a forklift hitting workers but, importantly, does not compromise a truck’s operational productivity.
