Pedestrian Stacker Series “To Deliver More Operator Confidence”
Yale® Europe Materials Handling is to launch a new pedestrian stacker series which the company says will deliver “a range of customer benefits including excellent through-mast visibility and precise load lifting controls”. The Pedestrian Stacker MS10-16 series supersedes the current MS series, and introduces a number of new features including redesigned controls along with a lifting and carrying capacity of up to 1.6 tonnes. Yale manager for warehouse products, Ron Farr, says: “Our new truck follows the Yale philosophy of designing around the operator’s needs. The result is a highly controllable and agile pedestrian stacker suitable for a range of user heights and experience levels.”

Yusen Makes Major Investments at Duisburg-Rheinhausen Site
Yusen Logistics has significantly strengthened its logistics presence in Duisburg; acquiring a new warehouse and expanding its storage capacity by 8,700 m². The total storage capacity of the multi-warehouse site is now 62,000 m².

The expanded Duisburg storage complex is located in the largest inland port in Europe. It has excellent access to major road networks and is in close proximity to a container terminal with rail and inland waterway connections to the ports of Rotterdam and Antwerp.

Engineering Firm to Increase Output With New Automated System
Velden Engineering (UK) Limited is to fit SSI Schaefer‘s Autocruiser internal transport system at its Columbia Mill manufacturing site in Bolton, Lancasshire.

Established in 1973, Velden supplies many industry sectors with machined components and assemblies in a wide variety of materials from prototype to volume production.

Velden’s engineering services include production of copper work and busbars for the power generation and distribution industries. These components can be punched and folded to many varied specifications and then manufactured as one- offs through to large production runs on a 24-7 service.

‘Tear-Off’ Innovation Added to Security Seal Range
Talisman Security Products, a UK manufacturer and supplier of tamper evident security seals, has added a new product to its range.

The Easiloc ‘Tear Off’ pull tight seal has been designed with the customer in mind, and is a security seal with an easy to use ‘tear off’ feature. This avoids the need for a cutting tool when removing the seal as well as improving health and safety conditions by eliminating the need for blades. Available in strap lengths of 200, 250, 300 and 350mm they are supplied in red, blue, green and yellow as standard.

Standard Easiloc are supplied complete with unique sequential serial numbers printed for asset tagging and tracking purposes. The option to customise the colour and laser printing of the seal to your specific requirements is available.

Electronic Toy Maker Selects Southampton Logistics Partner
KD UK, which makes electronic educational toy products, has appointed Import Services as logistics partner, to provide supply chain services from product sources in the Far East & Europe and to supply their customers in the UK and Eire. With a significantly enlarged product portfolio and a new strategy to add domestic supply alongside established FOB trading, KD UK led the search for a retail logistics partner that could facilitate bonded storage at a port based location. It says the fit with Import Services Southampton “is a perfect match, combining both a container port location with knowledge, systems and great experience in KD’s retail sector”.

DHL Opens New VanRiet Modular Sorter at Hanover Hub
The VanRiet Group has installed a modular HC Sorter at DHL Express’ new location in Hanover, where it will be able to process around 6,000 shipment items per hour through 7 input and 13 output lines. Its acquisition is part of a comprehensive investment programme by DHL Express in Germany, further supported by VanRiet at the locations in Nuremberg, Stuttgart and Hamburg. The official opening took place on 2 June.

Packaging Group Opens First EU Distribution Centre
Southgate Packaging Group’s Operations Director Charles McIntyre has cut the ribbon on the company’s new 200,000 ft² distribution centre near Brussels, Belgium, marking an exciting new phase in the group’s European expansion plans with storage space for 18,000 pallets. The opening of this facility follows the 2015 opening of the group’s 155,000 ft² UK Distribution Centre and significantly increases their ability to guarantee service excellence to more than 1,100 UK and European distributors and extend their next-day delivery service to most of Europe.

Crown Wins Third IFOY Award With RT 4000 Series
Crown has won a coveted International Forklift Truck of the Year (IFOY) Award for the third time. The RT 4000 Series of rider pallet trucks took the honours in the “Warehouse Trucks Lowlifter” category. Over the IFOY testing period in February, the independent jury of internationally respected trade journalists was impressed by the customer benefits delivered by the RT 4020 stand-up rider pallet truck. The IFOY test report stated that “the Crown RT 4020 is ideal for users with very limited operating space who need high productivity. The pallet truck’s narrow design is, for example, perfect for pallet put-away in very confined spaces. The transverse operator platform provides good visibility in both directions.”

Used Forklifts “Deliver Better Value and Reliability”, Says Supplier
Forklift supplier Yale is claiming that its ‘Approved Used’ forklift trucks can deliver a higher rate of reliability and better value for money than some of the lower priced new trucks on the market. David McIntyre, Business Services Manager at Yale Europe Materials Handling, says operations managers should be looking at the approved used market as a first choice investment when considering their options, rather than as second best.

Logistics Provider Signs 23,000m2 BTS Agreement in Utrecht Region
Prologis has announced a build-to-suit agreement totalling 23,000m2 with an international logistics provider in the Netherlands. The facility will be located at industrial park Het Klooster in Nieuwegein, adjacent to key motorways such as the A2, A12 and A27. The building will be BREEAM “Very Good” accredited and will be delivered in the second quarter of 2017.
